Sorry Brisray, you're not quite right about Catalan numbers being the centre of Pascal's triangle. They're the numbers that run down the centre of a similar triangle with everything to the right of the centre forced to 0. And there heaps of other places they appear. I think you misunderstood what I said on that page. The catalan numbers don't run down the centre of the triangle but they can easily be derived from it. An even simpler method than what I used (using factors) is to simply take the middle number then subtract the number to the side of it.
